Safeguarding

Safeguarding at MCC

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

The care and protection of children, young people and adults involved in church activities is the responsibility of everyone who participates in the life of the church.

If you are concerned that someone you know is at risk, or is being abused, or presents a risk to others, please contact Dickie Phillips, MCC's Safeguarding Lead on 07825887712 or dickie2203@gmail.com

Alternatively you can contact Beth Miller, our Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser, whose contact details are below.

We are working hard at MCC to create a place of meaningful connection, where we share in each others' lives and develop deep relationships that span across generations. A place where children are known and valued and trust the adults of the church. This can only happen if we are a safe place, so we are really big on respecting other's wishes, only touching another person (such as shaking hands or hugging) if they have given clear consent, and assuming it is a no unless it is a very clear yes, as not everyone in our community can use their voices to tell people when they don't want physical contact. We advocate hard for our children and vulnerable adults and regularly brief visitors about expectations. No-one should feel unsafe or uncomfortable around another person at MCC, and we do all we can to prevent harm. We constantly look to learn and grow in this area, to ensure our adults are trained and safeguarding aware, and our children are part of ongoing discussions around safeguarding.

Physical safety is also of great important to us, especially as we are an outdoor church who regularly gather in the woods around a campfire. Our site is routinely assessed for risks and our activities adapted accordingly.
