Join in with our Rhythm of Life
We are a fully mobile, largely outdoor church spread among various locations and centred in Chopwell.
Our pattern of worship, prayer, work, learning, hanging out, eating and singing together means there's something going on almost every day of the week.

If you plan on coming for the first time, please get in touch. We know trying new things can feel hard, and we want to make your experience as soft and beautiful as we can. Read on to find out where we'll be and when.

Explore Sunday
First Sunday every month from 1.30pm we meet at our church site in Chopwell woods. The nearest entrance is by Marx and Lenin Terrace. Park at the pump track carpark.
Explore is an intentionally relaxed, informal and creative time spent exploring different ways of worshipping and knowing God. What we discover at Explore equips us to worship and serve God the rest of the month.
Recent topics include singing, inclusivity and Advent, and coming up we've got care for creation, Lent and pilgrimage.

The format varies month to month but there's always music, discussion, prayers and food!
No experience necessary, just curiosity. Bring your big ideas and big questions, pick a hammock or sit on a log and explore with us.
Check the FAQs for more info, and if you are still unsure, get in touch.

The Feast
Third Sunday every month 1.30pm we meet at our church site in Chopwell woods. The nearest entrance is by Marx and Lenin Terrace. Park at the pump track carpark..
Feast is centred around being fed spiritually and physically. It follows the familiar pattern seen in many churches of prayers, songs, readings from the Bible, and Holy Communion but we're outside and it finishes with a big, free, community meal.
Do get in touch if it's your first time so we can make it as accessible as possible. Check the FAQs for more info.

Friday Prayers
Fridays from 10am onwards. Meet on the hill overlooking South Road.

Fridays are absolutely lush, and often people coming for the first time in-person start with Fridays because there's usually only around 15 of us and it's easy to dip in and out of.
We spend the whole day flowing from one part of the village to the next focusing on different ways to know and love God, and people join us for however long they are able, and at whichever point works best.
We begin with a walk in the woods where we pray for our community and each other, following the Northumbria Community tradition of Morning Prayer.
After prayers we head to The Bank, a community cafe, for refreshments and chat.

At lunchtime we go to our church site in the woods and set up for Holy Communion. We light the campfire, bake bread, read a book together, pray and share in Jesus' holy meal. We often stay to enjoy the woods and listen to music or chat. We usually leave by 3pm but as the days get warmer and longer it's likely we'll stay and play.

Compline (Night Prayer)
Wednesdays at 9pm we gather online at our MCC Facebook page (here) for a live prayer service, as one of our Community leads us in quiet, peaceful and reflective prayers, following the Anglican tradition of Compline. A calming and beautiful way to end the day in God's presence.

Home Group
Thursday nights, fortnightly.
A group of us gathers locally to eat, chat, share the ups and downs of life, pray and learn about the Bible together. Very informal. A great way of deepening relationships (with each other and God ) and a bit of a social highlight for many of us! If you'd like to come along, get in touch.

Youth Group Age 9+
Fortnightly on Friday evenings. Our youth meet to eat, discuss life and faith with the help of some aspects of the Youth Alpha sessions, supervised by our adult leaders. Sometimes this is outdoors, sometimes in homes. We recently went ice skating. The most important aspect of Youth Group is building trust and acceptance within and among our young people so they feel able to express themselves and discuss what's important to them in this safe space. Contact us for more details.
